Love my GPS

July 31, 2008

How did/do people drive around the country without a GPS? I’d of had a nervous breakdown by now if I’d been using maps and written directions.

Doing the tour of the battlefield today I wished that it could tell me where to go and what the places of interest where.

Maybe the iPhone will be able to do that next time!

The Gingerbreadman

July 31, 2008

After last nights mixed results we tried to kick it up a notch with The Gingerbreadman. It was easy to find; we happened to drive by itt this afternoon “hey! That’s the place!” and it looked nice.

Started with Cream of Crab & Tomato soup; tasted good though it was more like a stew than a soup.
My salad was too much and falling off the plate, making it awkward to work with.
We both had Fish and Chips. The chips were good, but I thought the batter was a bit hard and crusty and the fish mushy.
The Gingerbread dessert was the highpoint.
Ambiance was better than last night and the ffood averaged a little higher after the Alfredo diaster.
2.5 stars.

An interesting place we went by…

.. We also passed (but didn’t stop at) Ed’s Elephant Museum, which advertises 16 different fudge flavors.

Gettysburg

July 30, 2008

Apart from the stone incident, we made it okay to Gettysburg. They have a huge Visitor center/gift shop/cafe. Watched a half hour movie narrated by Morgan Freeman, and ate some bread pudding.

Also bought a Cd audio tour and attempted to follow along. We made it two four stops on the tour before we called it quits.

Pretty amazing though

Stone hits windsheild

July 30, 2008

A curse on big trucks! We were cruising along when a large stone either fell off or was kicked up by a big truck in front of us – and it was quite a bit in front too.

The crack seems somewhat stable, so hopefully will make it back without having to seek out a repair.

The problem with blogging by iPhone

July 29, 2008

..is that with the problems of typing on a small screen keyboard, spelling mistakes, and the fact that I need glasses to read the text; it’s easier to post a bad picture.
We ended up going to Bennigans bar & grill for dinner. My BBQ chicken & shrimp was mostly average though the mashed potatoes with cheese and bacon bits tasted pretty good and probably were as low fat as fries.
The Alfreadro Chicken was a disaster; the pasta undercooked and the sauce a heavy cheesy gloop.
The chocolate cake slice was HUGE and not bad; but layers of icing made it too rich for us to finish.
I liked the salad though!
Stars: 2 out of 5
(my dinner guest gave it a1)

If I review the continental breakfast tomorrow I will have reached a new low.

The tour of donut shops continues

July 29, 2008

Neither of us had ever been to a KrispyKreme and we hadn’t found a place for lunch so….

They had them coming out the conveyor belt and were warm – dangerous!!!
